June 6, 2023 - The first domestically built large cruise ship, the "Adora Magic City", witnessed its historic undocking moment at China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

At 13:30 today, the first domestically built large cruise ship ("Adora Magic City") left the dock at CSSC Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and berthed at Piers 4 and 5 outside the dock. This marks the transition of the first domestically built large cruise ship into the dock mooring and debugging phase. The main construction work of the entire ship is basically completed, entering the equipment debugging and interior finishing stage. Subsequently, the cruise ship will undergo two sea trials and is scheduled for delivery by the end of this year, entering formal operation next year.

China's First Domestically Built Large Cruise Ship "Adora Magic City"

The "Adora Magic City" has an overall length of 323.6 meters, a molded breadth of 37.2 meters, a gross tonnage of 135,500 tons, stands 24 decks high, contains 2,125 guest cabins, and can accommodate 5,246 passengers... The total number of parts for the entire ship reaches 25 million, equivalent to 13 times that of the "Fuxing" high-speed train. The total length of cable used is 4,200 kilometers, approximately equal to the distance from Shanghai to Lhasa, making it a veritable mega-system project. Due to its extremely high design and construction difficulty, it is hailed as the "crown jewel" of the shipbuilding industry.

The arrival of the "Adora Magic City" fills the gap in domestically built large cruise ships, achieving a leapfrog breakthrough in the field of domestic large cruise ship construction, making China the fifth country in the world capable of building large cruise ships.
